Monday of the First Week of Advent

Advent Banner III

Arise, SHINE,
for your LIGHT has come,
and the glory of the LORD
RISES upon you
See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness
is over the peoples,
but the LORD rises upon you
and his GLORY APPEARS over   you.
Nations will come to your light,
and kings to the brightness
of your dawn.

(Isaiah 60:1-3)

God announced the Message through the words of the prophets.  This week we look to their texts in hopeful expectation.  Each prophetic book is like a blog kept to update the people on God’s plan for salvation.  Sometimes the words were harsh.  God’s people were wandering down the wrong path.  They weren’t keeping up with God’s messages.  They were stumbling in the darkness.  But Isaiah’s posts brought hope.  A new light was dawning.  God’s glory was about to shine forth to all nations.  We join all of god’s people this season in waiting for that glorious dawn.
